Melissa C. Johnson is an Assistant Professor in the University College of Virginia Commonwealth University where she serves as the Curriculum Coordinator for the Focused Inquiry program. Her chapbook, Looking Twice at the World, was published by Stepping Stones Press and the South Carolina Poetry Initiative in 2008. Her work has previously appeared in Borderlands, Kakalak, The Connecticut Review, Farmer’s Market, The Potomac Review, and other journals. She earned an M.F.A. in creative writing and a Ph.D. in twentieth-century British literature and Women’s Studies from the University of South Carolina.
